Meet the Artist!
Amirah Aleem has been doing henna over 6 years and is an Internationally Certified Natural Henna Artist, registered with the ICNHA. Amirah was born and raised in Denver, Colorado. Coming from a long line of artists, it was only natural that Amirah grew up loving and practicing many types of art. In her early years, Amirah attended an Arts School where she learned basic clay sculpting, painting, sketching, improv and theater! In her teens Amirah dabbled in poetry and spoken-word. Amirah even took classes at KGNU Boulder in how to produce professional radio show content. In 2012, after a trip to Trinidad and Tobago, Amirah took interest in henna. In 2013 Aleem started Beleza Artistica when most of her work was primarily henna on wooden boxes and pieces of the like. Since then, Aleem's art work has been showcased in exhibits at Regis University, Metropolitan State University of Denver and The Denver Center of the Performing Arts. Aleem has also been volunteering at Pickens Technical Collage, in Aurora, to teach students about natural henna since 2015. Beleza Artistica has also operated at countless festivals and events. Some of the most prominent have been: Cinco De Mayo Denver Festival, Colorado Black Arts Festival, Five Points Jazz Festival and Juneteenth Music Festival. Amirah Aleem is grateful to be able to share her love of henna, in and with, the community that helped her grow and thrive as an artist.
